The "Salty Dawgs" are a musical trio that plays "Classic" cover songs, which are songs made famous by various artsts from the 1960's through present day.  The band consists of Rick Gilbert, who is the primary lead singer and rhythm guitarist, Madison Fontaine, lead acoustic guitar and pedal steel guitar, lead and background vocals, and Robbie Jones, "Washtub" bass, lead and background vocals.  Yes, his bass guitar is made from a wash tub.  He has more than thirty years experience making it sound wonderful.  They play a wide variety of music, from George Jones to Rascal Flatts, and song lists may be customized to fit the occasion for which they are performing. 

Rick and Madison have been playing music together since they played in the legendary country rock band "Who Shot John", based in Charlottesville in the early 1970's.  They got together after forty years and formed "Salty Dawgs"  with Robbie in June of 2013.  Faith Kemp started singing with the band in April 2014 adding a new dimension for the band, performing songs by Alison Krauss, Jennifer Nettles, and others.

Madison left Salty Dawgs in July 2014.
